Aditya Mehta
bows out of the World Snooker Qualifiers
Leading Indian cueist Aditya Mehta’s
professional season (2013-14) campaign came to an end on Saturday
following a 5-10 loss to Jamie Jones, world ranked 47 in the third
round of Dafabet World Championship qualifiers being played at Ponds
Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
The 59-ranked Indian expressed
disappointment and not making the main draw in a tweet.
"So that's that. end of
season for me .. poor display today so pretty disappointed to finish
off like that. But life goes on.... I'll be back".
Aditya had a great season where he
started as 73rd ranked player and after China Open his rank bettered
by 14 positions to land at 59. His best performance was in front of
his home crowd in Indian open where he reached the final and
finished runner-up against the World No.2 Ding Junhui of China.
Meanwhile, Pankaj Advani notched up a
10-9 win to set up a third round clash against 68th ranked Robbie
Williams on Sunday.
At one stage, Advani was trailing 2-5
and was also down by few frames to Li Hang but when only two frames
away from defeat, Advani responded under pressure and won the next
three to enter the round three. (Frame: 60-27, 58(52)-70, 02-100
(63), 62-25, 00-140 (116), 56 (55)-67 (67), 28-70 (52), 62-51,
01-128 (120), 72-42, 72-59, 07-68 (61), 01-100 (85), 78-54, 87-00,
73 (67)-01, 20-82, 73-12, 64-01).
In round three, Pankaj is now leading 5-4 against Robbie Williams at
the end of Session 1.
