Indian women had a
superb outing at the Australian Open Women Snooker Championship 2014
that concluded today at Mounties, Mt Pritchard in Australia.
India was
represented by former world team champion Vidya Pillai, World team
bronze medalist Amee Kamani, and former national pool champion,
Suniti Damani.
All three qualified
to reach into the knockouts where Kamani further reached the finals
and won silver medal losing to reigning World Under-21 champion
Jessica Woods 4-2 while Vidya had to be content with a bronze medal,
losing to same opponent Jessica.
Kamani played some
brilliant snooker to pull back from a 3-0 deficit to make it 3-2.
Then she pulled out all her guns trying to pull Jessica into a
decider but the Aussie girl was quick to seal the match 68-42.
Jessica also showed
the same determination against India's top snooker player Vidya
Pillai in the semi finals, where Vidya started with a gusto to lead
2-0 but Jessica clinched the next four frames and did not allow an
all Indian final.
Suniti Damani
finished as a quarter finalist losing to compatriot Amee Kamani.
