Faisal shocked
Kamal to Matunga Gymkhana - Dadar Club Open Snooker Tournament
Fancied cueist,
Faisal Khan, shocked former world No. 3 Kamal Chawla to claim
Rs.50000 winners prize in the Matunga Gymkhana-Dadar Club Open
Snooker Tournament here in Mumbai today.
Faisal, who represents Railways in the
national circuit, capitalized on the chances that came his way to
romp to a 6-3 triumph in the best-of-11 frames final. In the
process, Khan ended a long drought after winning the Mukesh Rehani
memorial way back in September 2012 where he beat Laxman Rawat.
Though not at his best, Khan dominated
the final, relying on small but significant breaks to stay ahead of
his accomplished opponent.
“I
did not play too well,” admitted Khan.
“In fact, I played really well upto the semi-finals, with consistent
breaks. I just took advantage of the chances I got and held on."
Worth mentioning
Khan defeated Shivam Arora in Semi final and Yasin Merchant in the
quarter final.
"I
too got some good chances but I did not capitalized on them,"
said Chawla.
"Anyway, this tournament was a nice warm-up before the nationals."
