Chawla confirms medal
for India in Asian Snooker 2014
Kamal Chawla has
now confirmed medal for India by entering into Semi finals of Asian Snooker
Championship 2014 being played at Al-Fujairah.
This is the first time Chawla has cracked into
top 4 of the
prestigious Asian championship.
In the late evening
quarter final match, he defeated Moh Keen Ho of Malaysia 5 frames to
3 to confirm the medal and now will take on another player from
Malaysia, Chuan Leong Thor to better the colour of the medal. Thor
has stepped into semis after defeating former World Champion,
Muhammad Asif of Pakistan 5-1.
Earlier in the day
matches, Chawla played well against Chinese player Chen Zifan to win
Last-16 match and defeated him 4-2. In group stage also, Chawla topped his group by winning all three matches and gained 7th
seed for knockout stage.
The first match in knockouts
remained tough against Laith Alnaser of Jordan that went close but
Chawla succeeded by winning the decider frame of best of seven
frames match.
Another Indian player, Dharminder
Lilly, who had qualified from Group stage, ended at Last-16 stage
after losing to Malaysian player Chuan Leong Thor. Thor defeated him
in straight set of frames 4-0.
Earlier Lilly had registered a close
win against Fung Kwok Wai of Hong Kong 4-3 in the Last 32 stage.
