The World
Billiards Championship for the year 2011 has now been announced and
will take place over the week of October 24 to 30, 2011, with the
venue as the same of last year i.e. Northern Snooker Centre in
Leeds, UK.
The event will
again be run as a joint initiative of WPBSA / EBOS initiative with
same time format, with few modifications as follows:

The event will
drop the word "Professional" from the title, and will now be termed
an "open" event, known simply as the WPBSA/EBOS World Billiards
Championship.

Direct entry
will be open to all, upon payment of the required entry fee of £100.
The Schedule of
the championship on a presumption of 40 entries would be
1st Group Stage
(Monday 24th & Tuesday 25th)

Round Robin
Matches (Group Stage) 8 x 5 players per group - 90 minutes duration
each.

Eight seeds only, with those players
that reached at least the quarter finals of last years' event being
seeded 1-8 (1 seed per group). Open draw for the remainder of
entrants into both group and position placement
Top two
qualifiers from each group will qualify for the 2nd Group Stage.
2nd Group Stage
(Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th)
The top two
from each group will qualify for the Quarter Finals.
Quarter Finals (Friday
28th) - 1 session of 2 hours 30 minutes
Semi- Finals (Saturday
29th) - 2 sessions of 2 hours each
Final (Sunday
30th) - 2 sessions of 2 hours 30 minutes each
Entry packs
will be released and distributed on the Friday, July 15, 2011, with
the closing date for receipt of applications being set as the
Wednesday, August 31 2011.
The draw will
be prepared by 5th September 2011
