Al Jazeera Sports Channel 2 will broadcast live images of the main rounds of the

Qatar International Open 9-Ball Championship

 

The live coverage will start Thursday from 1240 hours till 1700 hours

Participants (Stage 2):

The number of allotments (quota) decided in agreement with the tournament organizer and WPA is as below.

AAPA :: 2 spots

APBU :: 25 spots

BCA :: 10 spots (including 2 spots for Canada)

EPBF :: 28 spots

OPBA :: 2 spots

Arab countries :: 9 spots

Host country, Qatar :: 8 spots

Organizer wild card  :: 2 spots

WPA wild card :: 2 spots

Qualifiers from Stage 1 :: 8 spots

TOTAL :: 96 players in the main tournament ( Stage 2

 

Participants (Stage 1): Any players from the world. Maximum 64 players in the first day and the second day.

 

Format in Stage 2

  • Each group with 12 players x 8 groups in the group round by 96 players.

  • Double Elimination with race to 9, by Alternate-Break.

  • 4 qualifiers from each group (2 from winner’s bracket and 2 from loser’s bracket) advance to last 32 of Single Elimination with race to 11, by Alternate-Break. Final match will be by race to 13.

Qualifiers from the winner’s bracket (16 players) will be entered to the fixed spots in the last 32, and spots for 16 qualifiers from the loser’s bracket will be taken by a blind draw.

 

Format in Stage 1 (qualifying tournament)

  • Single Elimination with race to 7, by Alternate-Break.

  • First day (June 27), maximum 64 applicants.

4 qualifiers advance to the Stage 2 group round.

  • Second Day (June 28), maximum 64 applicants.

4 qualifiers advance to the Stage 2 group round. However if more players withdraw from the quota of Stage 2, the above figure will increase.

 

More detail will be announced after May 10 and at the day of qualifying tournament.

 

Prize Money: USD 150,000 in Total

Sanction Fee:  5% to be deducted from the prize money as WPA sanction fee.

Local Tax: No deduction.

              

Entry fee:

  • No entrance fee to allocated players to the Stage 2.

  • US$ 50 or QR 185 (Riyals) each day for the Stage 1 participant is requested to be paid at the reception desk in the venue by the previous day of the tournament which participates in.

Entry Application for Stage 2:

  • Entry by numbers:  Each Continental Federation (AAPA, APBU, EPBF, OPBA) and other organizations should inform to QBSF before April 20 if they will meet their allocations.

  • Entry by names:  Each Continental Federation (AAPA, APBU, EPBF, OPBA) and other organizations should submit the players’ name list (players’ names and their nationality) in a lump to QBSF by email or fax not later than May 10.

Entry Application for Stage 1:

  • Entry by names --- Not later than May 10, it is desirable to be submitted the attached application form  QBSF by email or fax through each national association which each belongs to.

In case when the applicant reaches to large number, the scheduled dates may be added a day (June 26) or two days (June 25 and 26). All participants to the Stage 1 are requested to make sure about any updated information in our web link or ask to QBSF or each association after May 10.

VISA: If invitation letter is needed for visa , please submit  your details (full name, passport number and other necessary documents  to QBSF at the earliest convenience. Below is a list of the countries that can obtain a visa on arrival at the State of Qatar. The visa can be obtained on arrival at the Doha International Airport, and there is a special visa desk. The charge for the visa is QR100 approx US $ 28.
