ONGC wins the Team Billiards

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) defeated Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in the final of Team Billiards event of the ongoing 17th PSPB Inter Unit Billiards & Snooker Championship 2021-22 to win the title. 

ONGC sent their player Dhruv Sitwala for the opening game against Dhvaj Haria of IOCL. Dhruv started with a comprehensive game and obtained a good lead over Dhvaj. However, Dhvaj made a recovery with a break of 50 points but later Dhruv posted a break of 84 points to secure the first game 200(84)-102(50).

The second game was interesting where Pankaj Advani of ONGC obtained the initial lead with a break of 57 points, but IOCL Player Brijesh Damani sent three consecutive breaks of 52, 84 and 49 to upset Advani.

For the last game, ONGC required 167 points to win and they sent the last player Sourav Kothari against Aditya Mehta of IOCL. Sourav initiated with a break of 95 to ease the victory. After a few visits of Aditya, Sourav made another break of 64 points to win the game 169-45 and title for ONGC.

For the bronze medal match, Team BPCL ousted Oil India Limited. For BPCL Devendra Joshi scored 200 against 70 of Amarish Kamalapuri and then S. Shrikrishna scored 200 with a break of 72 points against 34 of Tasrique A. Haque.
