Sourav Kothari wins
maiden national title
Sourav Kothari (PSPB) succeeded to capture his first ever national title
today when he defeated the defending champion Alok Kumar (PSPB) 5-3 in
best of nine games final been played here at Lucknow.
Alok who started well in the first game got tough fight from Sourav
throughout the match. It was fifth game where Sourav advanced with a lead
3-2 and was looking for an early finish but a crucial miss in sixth game
made him to wait for some more time but his determination was intact. He
claimed this title by winning seventh and eighth game successfully.
Before this, Sourav registered a brilliant win over Dhruv Sitwala (PSPB)
in semi final where Dhruv was leading 3-2 but lost 4-3.
On the other side, Alok defeated B. Bhaskar (Karnataka) 4-3 though Alok
was trailing 1-3 at a stage.
