Pankaj crafted second
highest break of Indian nationals
Today 8 time World champion Pankaj Advani crafted a magnificent break of
145 points to better his previous best and to stay as second best in
Indian Nationals. Advani was in full flow against Anurag Giri of Madhya
Pradesh in his first league match and had won two frames 86-22, 108(70)-00
before the best moments arrived.
In the break of 145 Advani was forced to pot pink twice as he went out of
the position for the black. Otherwise the break could have been the
maximum 147.
This break has now become the second best of Indian National championship
after Geet Sethi's 147 in 1987 during Guntur Nationals. Before this, 142
of Sonic Multani was the second best which he scored around 20 years back.
In other matches of the day, defending champion Manan Chandra struggled
despite having a good start against Paunjab’s Anmoldeep Singh. Manan was
leading 2-Nil when Anmol played constructive game and forced Manan to play
decider. However, Manan managed to win the decider and save the match 3-2
(73-28, 72-29, 14-66, 40-62, 64-40).
UP’s Akshay Kumar registered good win brushing aside Aditya Agarwal from
Railways 3-2. In the other matches of the main draw, Shivam Arora of Bihar
had a straight win against Assam’s Varghav Lakhar 3-0, while Aayush Kumar
of Punjab outplayed Vinayak Agarwal of Uttar Pradesh. Though Aayush lost
to Railway's Malkeet Singh in the last match of the day.
