After the
completion of Snooker camp yesterday, the English Billiards
camp of Whistling Properties Asian Qualifying National Camp
2011. This camp is being organized jointly by
Gujarat State Billiards Association and Sports Club of
Gujarat..
All
cueists arrived in early noon to sport club after a relaxed
over night trip of Kensville Golf Living. Every cueist is now
looking refreshed and has now started with the proceedings in
English Billiards discipline to confirm their berth in upnext
Asian Billiards championship 2011 to be held in Kish Island,
Iran.
The first
session started at 1:00 PM where the current top seed Alok
Kumar took on Rupesh Shah and defeated him in straight set of
games 3-0 in best of five (100-up) encounter..
On the
other table, top two cueists of the country Pankaj Advani and
Geet Sethi played each other and pulled the match till the
deciding game. Finally Pankaj took lead by winning the decider
3-2..
In
second session, current World Professional runner-up Dhruv
Sitwala wins comfortably against his statemate and former
world champion Ashok Shandilya. Shandilya managed to score 46
in first game but then, Dhruv dominated and outplayed him in
straight set..
B.
Bhaskar of Karnataka also registered win over Veteran Shyam
Jagtiani from West Bengal 3-1..
In the
third session, where Pankaj defeated local boy Rupesh Shah
easily in straight set 3-0, Geet Sethi had to sacrifice two
frame to Alok Kumar despite leading 2-0. Finally Geet wins the
decider and defeated top seed Alok Kumar 3-2.
In the last
session tonight, Ashok Shandilya lost the first game but over
come and defeated B. Bhaskar, 3-1 crafting 87, 64 and 61
breaks in 2nd, 3rd and 4th games.
The first upset
of this Billiards camp was last match in the night, where
Shyam Jagtiani of Railways defeated Current Professional
Billiards runner-up Dhruv Sitwala 3 games to 1. Jagtiani took
all control from first game only and did not give chances to
Dhruv at all. When it was lookin a clean sweep in the match,
3rd frame Dhruv survived by crafting 51 break when Jagtiani
missed on 97. But Jagtiani did not want to let it go like this
and in the next game he made a break of 92 to outplay Dhruv
3-1.
