The third day of Whistling Properties Asian Qualifying National Camp
2011 Organized jointly by Gujarat State Billiards Association
and Sports Club of Gujarat, Aditya Mehta put Pankaj Advani on
dart and defeated him 4 frames to 1. The initial frame, Aditya
missed on a score of 12, which Pankaj utilized and smashed a
break of 62 to won the frame but then onwards, Aditya
capitalized and by winning next four frames in a row
demonstrating superb cueball control and outplayed the
national champion. His all four winning
frames had 50+ breaks.
In the second match of morning session, Kamal Chawla of Railways beat
National runner up, Lucky Vatnani. The same story repeated
here too. Winning first frame on with a close margin, Lucky
could not do anything big in the remaining frames and bowed
down to Kamal 1-4.
Bad phase continued for Manan on third day also, as today he could not
even won a single frame and lost to Alok NIL-4. This was his
consecutively fifth loss in a row.
In the evening match Lucky Vatnani dominated Aditya Mehta since the
beginning and with the breaks 80 and 78 in second and third
frames he took instant lead of 3-0 over Aditya. Though Aditya
tried to comeback by winning fourth frame but that was not
enough as Lucky sealed the match 4-1 by winning fifth match
comfortably.
On other table, Pankaj saved himself from giving an upset against Kamal
Chawla. Kamal while playing in terrific form, capitalized
first two frames. However, Pankaj reduced this deficit by
winning the third frame, a counter by Kamal put Pankaj again
in pressure. Fifth frame remains turning point of the match
where Pankaj gave a chance to Kamal on 44 points. Kamal in a
hurry to make it make an upset, missed a simple centre pocket
pink, which eventually cost him the match loss. From there
Pankaj not only won the frame, but saved the match also
winning next two frames.
Finally the former World No.3 Manan Chandra managed to score first win
of the camp after five continuous loss. In the late evening
match, he beat I.H. Manudev in decider frame 4-3. Down 1-3
Manan kept his cool and registered a much awaited win. |
