Mixed day for brothers - Roshan & Harish

The Mirchandani brothers, Roshan and Harish believe in attacking play. And that’s what Roshan did and succeeded, but not Harish. Roshan Mitul Parekh 117-83, 121-83 to move into the second round of the  Rosy Blue sponsored Hindu Gymkhana-Wilson Jones All India Open handicap snooker championships, hosted by P.J.Hindu Gymkhana here on Saturday.

Roshan, who  was placed on plus 50 handicap to his rival Mitul’s plus 60, just went berserk and notched up two breaks of 31 in the first and 39 in the second. Mitul could do nothing but  watch in admiration as Roshan wrapped up the tie.

Harish, on the other hand, inspite of starting quite impressively as he took the first frame narrowly, became bundle of nerves as confident Siddharth Parekh played with aplomb to take the match to the decider. While Siddharth continued with his impressive form, Harish made unforced errors galore. Siddharth triumphed 85-88, 104-97, 95-65.

Marzi Kalyaniwala, of Bombay Gymkhana, who had finished second best last year in the third edition of this event, was in his element as he ousted CCI’s Zulfikar Saria 109-78, 105-60. He next takes on hosts Hindu Gymkhana, who defeated Chetan Dalal 111-85, 99-87.

Kirit Raiyani found the double role of an organizer and player a tough one.

Playing against Manjit Singh, Kirit started well to claim the first frame. But thereafter it was Manjit who called the shots as he went on to claim the next two frames with ease for a 93-108, 130-93, 108-96 win.
