Success vs. Joy

- LXXII -

It's Those Little Moments

Our existence is filled with myriad activities. We strive to earn big bucks. Our ambition drives us to seek power and privilege. We often do not realize that what gives us the maximum amount of joy and happiness are small actions – your daughter hugs you tightly at the end of a long day, your son greets you with a wide smile or your wife holds your hand.

I am not particularly fond of attending marriages, anniversaries, or other celebratory functions. However, even when I attend such social occasions, I tend to keep to myself. You can be alone without being lonely.

In the last ten years I would have attended maybe just one wedding. I like to indulge in activities that give me joy. My joy lies in being myself, and living moment to moment. Large social events don’t allow me to do so.
