He tweeted
"A great run comes to an end.
Really enjoyed the World 6 red event in Bangkok. Happy to have won a historic
medal and sad I couldn't go further" "Ding was too good
today. Good luck to both Bingham and Ding for the final tomm".
Advani has now become the first ever Indian to win a medal in any edition of
Sangsom World 6Reds Championship since its start in 2008.
He had a great run throughout the competition and reached till the medals
round without losing any match. This includes an outstanding victory over Ding
Junhui in the first round-robin match. But in semis, he couldn't repeat the
same result and lost 4-7 against Ding to settle-down for Bronze.
Advani started on a good node in semi final and claimed first frame but Ding
held his nerve better to take 4-1 lead by winning next four frames in a row.
Though Advani secured another two frames to cut the deficit but Ding was
cautious and pocketed two more frames to keep up the lead 6-3.
Advani did not lose hope and clinched a low scoring 10th frame but Ding proved
him better and won 11th frame to seal the match 7-4 and advanced to final.
