Mohta stands outside chance to qualify at Rawale Group Asian U-21 Snooker.

Shahbaz Khan from India

The Indian national champion Shahbaaz Khan and his  mercurial teammate Shravan Mohta, find  themselves in a piquant position to qualify into the quarter final round of the Rewqale  Group Asian Under 21 Snooker Championship 2009.

While the former needs just a frame win over top seed Li Yuan in the opening match tomorrow, Mohta finds himself facing an outside chance against second Thai seed Thanawat Thirapoongpaiboon. The latter has a frame average of five  from four matches.

As against this Mohta has minus one average from two wins and two losses in this Group 'B' of the championship now in progress at the PYC (Hindu ) Gymkhana here. A straight three frame victory over his Thai challenger should see Sharwan make the grade with Cao Ypeng of China, who has already qualified for the knock out from  this group.

Meanwhile nine time world champion Geet Sethi made a resounding start crushing Rupesh Shah 3-0 in his first league match from Group 'B' in the Asian Billiards Championship. Kothari won a second match defeating Bari Caudhary of Bangladesh but lost the third one to Praput C. of Thailand 3-0. Joshi also lost to Aung Sun Oo of Myanmar.
