30.08.2015 :: Johnson, Hardik proceed in style

 

 

The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 resumed after a hiatus of 5 days. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

The Senior Snooker event which is in its round of 32, is been played on the best of 5 frames format. 2nd seed Johnson Narsidani out classed Chintak Jhaveri in straight 3 frames. Narsidani took the first 2 frames very comfortably at 65-36 and 70-43 and moved up. Narsidani in the 3rd frame fired a break of 71 which is the current highest break of the tournament and forced his opponent to give up at 71-00. Prominent Hardik Panchal won a very interesting match against promising player Amit Patel 3 frames to 2, after dropping the first 2 frames. Panchal had a hazy start and dropped 2 frames at 27-60 & 43-72. In the 3rd frame Panchal taking control over the match won 64-18 and won the 4th at 59-34 to force a decider. In the decider frame Panchal left behind Patel at 72-31 and sealed the match. Meherzad Bhagwagar also brushed aside current junior snooker no. 2 Bhavin Sonaiya in straight 3 frames where in the 3rd frame Bhagwagar scored a break of 44.

The Sub Junior Snooker event is under way and the Round Robin League Stage (Top 4) is been played on a best of 3 frames format. In this event Vishal Thakar overcame Karmesh Patel 2 frames to nil. Whereas Rushil Chavda had to fight it out against Rohan Kalaria in the decider frame to win 2-1.
