24.08.2015 :: Ashish Upsets, Tushar Excels In Gujarat State Senior Snooker

 

The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

In the Senior Snooker event the round of 32 started today which is been played on the best of 5 frames format. Ashish Shah from Baroda created an upset beating seasoned player Sheel Shah 3 frames to 2. Young Ashish scored a 30 break in the opening frame and took the lead at 62-30. Sheel bounced back and claimed 2 frames to take the lead with his experienced play. But Ashish had just not given up and forced a decider at 68-37 by his powerful potting skills. The decider frame was a very interesting frame as both were almost on level with each other but in the end it was Ashish who capitalized on a chance he got and sealed the frame and match on the pink ball at 53-45.

On the other hand promising player Tushar Sahay had a good day of snooker beating Shailesh Nandotariya in straight 3 frames. Sahay from the very beginning looked in full form as he scored good break consistently. In the first frame Sahay took the lead on 83-40 leaving his opponent way behind. In the 2nd and the 3rd frame Sahay posted a 48 break and 40 break and won 69-31, 67-13 respectively.

Prominent player Sanjay Shah and 5th seed Abhimanyu Gandhi also won their respective match and entered the round of 16.

The Sub Junior Snooker event is under way and is been played on a 1 frame format. In this event young lad Karmesh Patel won against Saumil Jain to enter the top 4 Round Robin League Stage along with Rohan Kalaria who won against Abhishek Pandey 60-26.
