23.08.2015 :: Seeds Proceed, Geeks Crack in Gujarat State Senior Snooker

The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

In the Senior Snooker event the round of 32 started today which is been played on the best of 5 frames format. Old Timer Nimal Shah hit a big winning shot by beating Kamal Patel in straight 3 frames. Shah seemed confident right from the start and took the first frame at 59-18. In the 2nd frame Patel tried his level best to make it equal but dint succeed and lost on 63-49. In the 3rd frame Shah overpowered Patel to win the frame and match at 53-04. Top seed Bhadresh Panchal sweeped Jayesh Patel 3-0. Panchal gave no chance to his opponent and took all the 3 frames with a wide margin. Mohsin Achhava also kept his winning streak alive beat Tejas Trivedi 3-1.

In the 2nd round matches, 2nd seed Johnson Narsidani faced a tough time beating Dhrumit Gajjar but eventually won 2-0 on the last black ball finish in the 2nd frame. Malav Parikh also won a close match against Sunny Rajput 2-1.

The Sub Junior Snooker event has been started and is been played on a 1 frame format. In this event young lad Abhishek Pandey made the first upset as he won 61-34, to fancied Karan Bhandari who was the 2nd seed in the event.
