The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

The Senior Snooker is currently in its knock out stage and are been played on a best of 3 frames format.

In the Senior Snooker event, 5th seed and 3 time title winner Abhimanyu Gandhi out classed his opponent Falgun Mashru in his 2nd round match. Gandhi took the first frame comfortably at 64-12 but it was the 2nd frame where he showed his class winning the frame at 100-00 firing a break of 49 towards the end. Top seed Bhadresh Panchal won his 2nd round match 2-0 playing steady snooker against Deep Shah. 2nd seed Johnson Narsidani also cleared his first round with ease, beating Ronak Solanki in 2 straight frames.

In the Junior Snooker event, the Round Robin League Stage is played on a best of 5 frames format. In this event 3rd seed Malav Parikh won a cliff hanger match against 4th seed Bhavin Sonaiya to get close to the title. This match was the most interesting match in this event. Sonaiya was looking very strong from the start and took a lead of 2 frames at 55-46 & 46-11. But Parikh had still not given up he kept his confidence back into place and bounced back with 2 straight frames 62-36 & 44-37 to force a decider frame. The decider frame was more interesting as both the players were playing defensive snooker and were almost head to head which all came down to the last black ball win scenario. Sonaiya tried a safety shot but fouled by potting the cue ball into the pocket and the frame and match was awarded to Parikh at 42-39.
