19.08.2015 :: Malav wins convincingly in Junior Snooker

The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

In the Junior Snooker event, the Round Robin League Stage is played on a best of 5 frames format. 3rd seed Malav Parikh continues his winning streak by thrashing 2nd seed Dhanraj Solanki in 3 frames to 1. Solanki who is the second favourite after Johnson Narsidani who lost in the pre league stage, had a tough time last evening. Parikh who is in full form took the first step forward winning the 1st frame 58-24, but Solanki levelled it up on the 2nd frame at 51-10. Parikh in the 3rd frame bounced back and won on a close finish at 62-49. Solanki still kept his hopes alive in the 4th frame but could not force a decider as Parikh sealed the match at 49-21. More over today morning Dhanraj Solanki had a good day beating Akil Rajani 3-1. Bhavin Sonaiya is also a player to look up to in this event as he has won his first match against fancied Akil Rajani in his first league match and will be facing Malav Parikh in his next match.

The Senior Snooker event is currently in its knock out stage and is been played on a best of 3 frames format. In this event Aaron Patel brushed aside Nakul Patel who is a seasoned player and State No.3 in Senior Billiards. Aaron displayed powerful snooker and over powering his opponent won the match in 2 straight frames at 52-42 and 74-54.
