The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

The Senior Billiards event is in the Round Robin league stage and has a 150 points best of 5 format.

Today in the morning, in the Senior Billiards event Nakul Patel faced Malav Parikh in the round robin stage for the 3rd and 4th position match. Patel brushed aside Parikh in 3 straight games. In the first game, Patel looked more confident and claimed the game 150-132. To Malav’s surprise this was the only match he came close to the 150 mark as Patel in the second and the third game kept on scoring heavy and was in lead all throughout and won 150-108, 150-123 respectively. Nakul Patel captured the 3rd position and Malav Parikh the 4th.

Last evening, Ankur Khetan played Nakul Patel in the round robin stage match no. 4 and won 3-2. The match was the most interesting match in the event up till now as Khetan moved ahead 2-0 initially 150-121 and 150- 136. But Patel had his nerves intact and had never gave up, he bounced back into the game by winning the 3rd and the 4th game by close margins 135-150 and 131-150 to force a decider game in the best of 5 contest. In the decider Khetan played very tactically with attacking and safety play. He sealed the match at 150-84 to book a Final Match with Abhimanyu Gandhi.

The Junior Snooker and Senior Snooker events are currently in the best of 3 frames format.

In the Junior Snooker event, young and promising Karan Bhandari displayed some good snooker and swiped away Dhruvish Aghara 2-0.
