The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is on its way ahead. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

The Senior Billiards event is a 100 points best of 5 format in the pre league stage and 150 points best of 5 format in the round robin league stage. The Junior Snooker event has a best of 3 frames format. The Senior Snooker Event with best of 3 frames format started today morning.

In the Senior Billiards event last evening, Malav Parikh of Rajpath Club who is the current Senior Billiards 4th seed and Junior Billiards Champion cruised into the top 4 very smoothly beating Kushal Shah of Karnavati Club by 3 straight wins. In the first game itself Parikh showed his form and won the game at 100-51, in the second game Parikh again hammered breaks of 20s and 30s to move up by 2 games at 100-63, in the 3rd frame Shah tried his best to make to the 100 mark but Parikh had made his intension clear and sealed the game and match at 100-67. Ankur Khetan of Ellisbridge Gymkhana also entered the round robin stage beating his club mate Suvrat Puri 3-0.

In the Round Robin Stage which took off today morning, defending champion Abhimanyu Gandhi took on Nakul Patel of Rajpath Club. Both the players showed their metal and seemed very adamant on winning. In the first game Gandhi won a cliff hanger at 150-147, the second game was breath taking too as both the players were very close to the 150 spot on the score board but it was Gandhi who snatched the game from Patel again at 150-145. In the third game Nakul seemed more confident and kept on scoring ahead and claimed the game on 110-150. But it was too late for Patel as Gandhi was back in form in the 4th game, scored high in the very beginning and sealed the game and match at 150-124.
