07.08.2015 :: Top seeds enter Billiards league

The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

The Senior Billiards event is a 100 points best of 5 format in the pre league stage. Where as Junior Snooker event which has a best of 3 frames format was in its day 2.

In the Senior Billiards event, top seed and defending champion Abhimanyu Gandhi banged into the top 4 beating Hardik Panchal of Sports Club 3-1. Gandhi dropped the 2nd game 84-100 after winning the first game very comfortably at 100-40, in the 3rd game with Gandhi’s powerful potting abilities he won 100-84, where as in the 4th game Panchal kept his hopes alive, but Gandhi sealed match in a close finish at 100-96.

On the other hand Nakul Patel of Rajpath Club who is seeded 3th in the event, entered the league stage in 3 straight wins against Prakash Garg of ABSCA 100-87, 100-81, 100-39. The first two games Garg kept on scoring behind Patel but did not reach the 100 mark, where as in the 3rd game Patel fired a 43 break which is the highest break till now in the event and left behind Garg to end his hopes.

In the Junior Snooker Event, Mrugank Shah of Sports Club scored high against Yash Umre and won 2 straight frames. Shah showed his good cue ball control and scored a 34 break in the 2nd game and sealed the match.
