02.09.2015 :: Raghav triumphs in Gujarat State Junior Billiards

 

The Winsome Realty Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards & Snooker Championship for 2015 is under way. The event is jointly organized by Rajpath Club Ltd. and Gujarat State Billiards Association (GSBA).

3rd seed Raghav Agarwal secured his maiden Title in the Junior Billiards Event after winning all 3 round robin matches. In the Junior Billiards League stage which is played on a 60 minutes format Agarwal defeated Johnson Narsidani, Mrugank Shah and Malav Parikh to clinch the trophy. Agarwal first played 2nd seed Johnson Narsidani and won with a decent margin at 183-141. In the second match he was up against top seed Malav Parikh, where Agarwal claimed a close escape winning at 167-157 leaving Parikh just 10 points behind. In the 3rd Agarwal cruised ahead on breaks of 30s against Mrugank Shah and sealed the match at 216-135 to claim the Title. The last 2 round robin matches are still to be played, which will decide the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions.

The Senior Snooker event, last match of the pre league was been played on a best of 5 frames format, where Johnson Narsidani confirmed his spot in the Top 4 Round Robin League Stage beating Sachin Kansara of Vadodara with 3 frames to 1.

The Senior Snooker Round Robin League Stage (Top 4) took off today morning, where 5th seed and title favourite Abhimanyu Gandhi thrashed Mohsin Achhava in 4 straight frames. Gandhi seemed in full form and did not allow Achhava to score a single frame.
