10.12.2014 :: Abhimanyu Stuns all with Senior Billiards title

PARTHIV JHAVERI GETS WILD CARD ENTRY AT NATIONALS

 

 

Abhimanyu Gandhi shocked everyone by winning senior billiards championship at the ongoing BMW-Parsoli Motors Gujarat State Ranking Billiards Tournament held at Sports Club of Gujarat Ltd. in affiliation with GSBA.

Abhimanyu, who is basically a snooker player failed to defend his snooker title this year, but he played extremely well to mark his presence with his maiden billiards title. From game one he played aggressive in this point format slot, potting brilliantly and taking all opportunities given by his opponents.

In the final legue matches Abhimanyu beat Nakul Patel 3-2, Chintan Shah 3-2 and Malav Parikh 3-0 to emerge clear winner with no. 1 position. Chintan Shah who beat Nakul Patel and Malav Parikh finished as runner up in the tournament. Nakul Patel finished at third spot and Malav Parikh at 4th spot at the end of final legue matches.

Meanwhile, last year defending champion Parthiv Jhaveri who finished at the 7th spot in the tournament, got entry into nationals as no.2 player from Gujarat along with Abhimanyu Ganhi as other players are unable to go for nationals.

 

Malav Parikh wins Junior Billiards title

 

Top Seeded Malav Parikh defended his junior billiards title which was played at Ellisbridge Gymkhana. Malav who also finished at 4th position in senior tournament was too good for his opponents to claim the title.

In final legue matches he beat second seed Johnson Narsidhani, Raghav Agarwal and Aditya Sagar. Final ranking was:

1st-Malav Parikh, Runner up-- Johnson Narsidhani, 3rd position-- Raghav Agarwal 4th position-- Aditya Sagar.

Malav and Johnson will represent Gujarat in Junior Billiards in upcoming nationals at Kolkata starting from 5th january.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gujarat's two stars Rupesh Shah and Dhvaj Haria will play nationals representing ONGC and IOC respectively in Senior Billiards category.

 


 

30.11.2014 :: Bhadresh Panchal wins senior snooker title

YOUNG JOHNSON NARSIDHANI FINISHES RUNNER UP

Bhadresh Panchal who was seeded fifth in the tournament played classic and very consistent snooker throughout the tournament to lift BMW-PARSOLI MOTORS Gujarat state open ranking Senior Snooker Title. which is played at The Sports Club of Gujarat Ltd. in affiliation with GSBA. This is second time Bhadresh has won the state championship.

 

In the final legue matches played between top four players of each group, Bhadresh easily outclassed all other three players to become worthy champion.

 

In his first round robin legue match he beat promising youngster Johnson 4-1 in best of seven frames match. It was likely that Gunjan Patel and Yagenesh Merai would give Bhadresh run for his money, but consistent play of Bhadresh did not give any chance to his opponents and he won both the matches 4-1 respectively.

 

Bhadresh who regularly plays at sports club, played fully to his potential to pocket the title and will now represent Gujarat in upcoming nationals at Kolkatta in January 2015.

 

Bhadresh will be joined by Johnson Narsidhani as no. 2 player from the state for the nationals. Johnson who played brilliant in this tournament fully deserves all credit for upsetting defending champion Abhimanyu Gandhi on his way to no. 2 position.

 

Johnson in his other legue matches beat Gunjan Patel 4-2 and Yagnesh Merai 4-1.

 

In the last match Yagnesh Merai just got past Gunjan 4-3 to take third place and Gunjan finished at 4th position in the tournament.

 


 

27.11.2014 :: Major upsets in two days of senior snooker event

 

Major upsets were created in last two days at BMW-PARSOLI MOTORS Gujarat state open ranking Senior Snooker Tournament which is played at The Sports Club of Gujarat Ltd. in affiliation with GSBA.

 

Young Johnson Narsidhani marked his presence in senior snooker by upsetting defending champion and top seed Abhimanyu Gandhi by 3-1 to enter final legue matches of the tournament.

 

Abhimanyu who was in solid form in earlier matches and also notched up 102 break, highest of the tournament in third round, suddenly lost form and could not control his nerves to go down to sub junior champion Johnson.

 

In other major upsets, Hemendra Jadeja showing brilliant temperament to beat second seed Nilesh Chauhan 3-2. It was the most exciting match of the tournament with balance shifting with each game but in the end it was hemendra who held his nerves to knock out Niesh out of tournament.

 

Sixth seed Parthiv also faced similar fate at the hands of Sanjay Shah. Looking in total control of the game and playing well, parthiv played suicidal game losing concentration to gift away two simple games to his opponent and eventually lost 1-3.

 

In the last pre legue match tom Hemendra Jadeja will play Bhadresh Panchal, to decide fourth player of the legue.
