Nitesh entered into Next Round
Nitesh Madan of
Delhi who was runner-up in the Nationals held at Gwalior
recently won in a breeze 3-NIL against his state-mate Ashmeet
Singh. In the process he chalked out splended run of 68 in the
opening frame to advance to the second round of of the RKG
Snooker Masters North Zone championship being held at Megapool
Snooker Academy, here today.
Delhi's Keerath
Bhandaal, the sub-junior national champion, put up a spirited
fight before losing to state-mate Bunty Retra. Bhandaal, who
also won the Junior Billiards and Snooker titles along with
sub-junior snooker at the recently concluded National
Billiards & Snooker Championships in Gwalior, matched the pace
of her opponent till the very last but ran out of steam in the
decider to lose 2-3. Retra won the first frame comfortably
before losing the second frame. Retra again surged ahead but
Bhandaal drew parity with a break of 69 in the fourth frame.
In the decider, Retra showed fine potting skills to seal the
issue in his favour.
In the other
matches of the day, Delhi's Anuj Uppal beat Uttar Pradesh's
Akash Srivastava 3-0 while 15 years old Shivam Vats, the
youngest player in the championship, impressed the crowd with
his grit and determination before losing to Maharashtra's
Rohan Sahalkar 1-3.
Players from
Madhya Pradesh, Bharat Sisodiya and Prateek Jain, also won
their respective matches and advanced to the next round of the
championship.
