30 January 2013: Ashutosh added another feather in his crown

 

 

On the fifth day of Manisha National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2013 being held at Gymnasium Hall of Jiwaji University, Gwalior (Org. by Gwalior District Billiards and Snooker Association), Ashutosh Padhy from Orissa won the Sub-Junior national snooker title defeating Madhya Pradesh player, Hritik Jain. This is his third sub-junior national title. Prior to this he won Sub-Junior Billiards in 2010 (Pune Nationals) and Sub-Junior snooker in 2011 (Chennai Nationals).

 

In the final after winning the first frame, Hritik made a comeback and managed to level the match but thereon Ashutosh did not allow Hritik to settle down any more and pocketed the next frame to gain 2-1 lead. In the fourth frame Ashutosh controlled and fearlessly scored 49-25 and sealed the match 3-1 to lift his third national title.

 

In the morning session Ashutosh outplayed another local player Mohd. Hussain of Madhya Pradesh 2-1 in the semi final match whereas Hritik knocked out Dev Dongre (Maharashtra) in straight set of frames 2-NIL.

 

In Junior Billiards category four players have reached into round robin stage. This includes Dhvaj Haria (Gujarat), Ishpreet Chadha (Maharashtra), Jagadesh B. (Tamil Nadu) and M.L. Laxman (Karnataka).

 

In quarter finals, defending champion Dhvaj Haria of Gujarat knocked out Ashutosh Padhy of Orissa (447-138) to confirm his place in top 4. Jagadesh B. defeated Yash Bansal (MP) (347-173); M.L. Laxman (Karnataka) beat Hritik Jain (MP) (376-264) and Ishpreet had a close match against Ketan Chawla (MP) where he managed to win by 37 points (366-329).
