Shankar upset M.L. Laxman; Ishpreet lost to Shri Krishna
On fourth day of
Manisha National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2013 being
held at Gymnasium Hall of Jiwaji University, Gwalior (Org. by
Gwalior District Billiards and Snooker Association), Shankar
Saini of Uttar Pradesh outplayed former India Junior No.3 M.L.
Laxman of Karnataka in straight set of frames 2-Nil in his
Last 32 match. Laxman had few chances in the first frame but
Shankar dominated the second frame and sealed the match
comfortably 76-37, 52-22. After that also he continued his
winning streak and defeated Adit Raja (Maharashtra) 2-1 in the
Pre-Quarter finals. Adit managed to win first frame only and
had no other option except bowing down against UP State No.1
in the next two frames.
Sub-Junior
Billiards champion Ishpreet Chadha suffered a shock defeat
against Shri Krishna of Tamil Nadu 2-1 in the Pre-Quarter
final match. Ishpreet won the first frame and failed to secure
the second frame despite having a tough fight against Shri
Krishna. In the decider both the players played exceptionally
well and the frame went till black ball game where Shri
Krishna succeeded and moved into Quarter Finals.
In Junior
Billiards defending champion Dhvaj Haria reached into Quarter
finals defeating M. Mani Kishore of AP (370-91) in Last 32 and
Rohit Malhotra of WB (430-201). He will now take on Ashutosh
Padhy of Orissa in the quarter final match of Junior
Billiards.
Today Qualifying
matches of Junior Snooker also started where local player
Harshit Taluja remained unlucky. Despite having a lead of
2-NIL he lost 2-3 against Manish P. of Karnataka.
Harshit played
brilliant and pulled the first frame by one point and had a
good win of second frame too but after that Manish controlled
throughout and registered 3-2 win over Harshit.
