11 February 2013: Gwalior Player Nitin Agarwal shines; Keerath wins Junior Billiards & Snooker

 

The local star player Nitin Agarwal (MP) gave an outstanding performance in Senior Snooker event of Manisha National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2013 being held at Gymnasium Hall of Jiwaji University, Gwalior (Org. by Gwalior District Billiards and Snooker Association) and defeated reigning National 6-Red Champion Shivam Arora (Bihar) in the decider frame 3-2.

 

Nitin started aggressively in the opening frame and gave a tough fight to Arora. The frame went till the last black ball and Nitin potted that well to pocket the frame. Already geared up Nitin easily pocketed the next frame too but after that he had to wait little long as third and fourth frames had a close fight and went in the favour of Shivam Arora. In the decider frame Nitin played an attacking game and had left no other option for Shivam except bowing down to local star player Nitin Agarwal.

 

Continue on the zeal, Nitin won his next match too where he defeated Vishal Sahay from West Bengal. At a stage, Nitin was down 1-2 but gaining the momentum again he won next two consecutive frames and defeated Vishal 3-2.

 

Another player from MP, Anurag Giri also exhibited good potting and defeated former India No.4 Neeraj Kumar (Railways) 3-1. Neeraj had chances but fumbled at many times resulting into match loss to a local player Anurag.

 

 

In Junior Girls category, today was the day for Junior Snooker final where Keerath Bhandaal (Delhi) knocked out Varsha Sanjeev (Karnataka) 2-1 in best of 3 frames final match and won the title trophy. Third frame remained a crucial one where Keerath got a tough fight from Varsha but Keerath managed to step ahead in last moments of play and registered victory.

 

This is Keerath’s third title in this national championship. Prior to this, she won Junior Billiards yesterday and Sub-Junior Snooker on the day before. In both the junior category girl’s events, Amee Kamani (MP) remained No.3 and Sania Arif (Chandigarh) as No.4.
