11 February 2013:
Gwalior Player Nitin Agarwal shines; Keerath wins Junior
Billiards & Snooker
The local star
player Nitin Agarwal (MP) gave an outstanding performance in
Senior Snooker event of Manisha National Billiards & Snooker
Championship 2013 being held at Gymnasium Hall of Jiwaji
University, Gwalior (Org. by Gwalior District Billiards and
Snooker Association) and defeated reigning National 6-Red
Champion Shivam Arora (Bihar) in the decider frame 3-2.
Nitin started
aggressively in the opening frame and gave a tough fight to
Arora. The frame went till the last black ball and Nitin
potted that well to pocket the frame. Already geared up Nitin
easily pocketed the next frame too but after that he had to
wait little long as third and fourth frames had a close fight
and went in the favour of Shivam Arora. In the decider frame
Nitin played an attacking game and had left no other option
for Shivam except bowing down to local star player Nitin
Agarwal.
Continue on the
zeal, Nitin won his next match too where he defeated Vishal
Sahay from West Bengal. At a stage, Nitin was down 1-2 but
gaining the momentum again he won next two consecutive frames
and defeated Vishal 3-2.
Another player
from MP, Anurag Giri also exhibited good potting and defeated
former India No.4 Neeraj Kumar (Railways) 3-1. Neeraj had
chances but fumbled at many times resulting into match loss to
a local player Anurag.
In Junior Girls
category, today was the day for Junior Snooker final where
Keerath Bhandaal (Delhi) knocked out Varsha Sanjeev
(Karnataka) 2-1 in best of 3 frames final match and won the
title trophy. Third frame remained a crucial one where Keerath
got a tough fight from Varsha but Keerath managed to step
ahead in last moments of play and registered victory.
This is Keerath’s
third title in this national championship. Prior to this, she
won Junior Billiards yesterday and Sub-Junior Snooker on the
day before. In both the junior category girl’s events, Amee
Kamani (MP) remained No.3 and Sania Arif (Chandigarh) as No.4.
