15.12.2011: Dhvaj creates history, completes clean sweep

Promising youngster Dhvaj Haria has created landmark history in Gujarat Cue Sport Arena today by winning Senior Billiards Title. With this he has won all 4 titles, Junior Snooker & Billiards, and Senior Snooker & Billiards.

The historic feet is that for the first time a player from Gujarat has qualified as No.1 position for all the six events at nationals. Prior to him, Geet Sethi was the only cueist who represented Gujarat State after winning all four titles (at that time Sub-Junior Category was not started). Another cueist who came closer was Sonic Multani in the year 1990, but he lost in the final of Senior Billiards that time.

This feat of today will go long way in boosting confidence of talented Dhvaj & Gujarat can safely rely on him for great achievement on national and international scene. Office Bearers of Gujarat State Billiards Association and Sports Club are extremely proud for Dhvaj Haria and offer whole hearted support in his future endeavors.

Meanwhile, seasoned player Parthiv Jhaveri brought his experience together to blank Ankur Khaitan 4-0 (150-92, 151-141, 152-128, 150-67). Though Parthiv looked out of practice, and could manage only 2 half century breaks in the match, he pulled at crucial points with calm temperament to beat Khaitan in straight games. He is likely to go to Nationals along with Dhvaj as second position from Gujarat for Senior Billiards Event. Parthiv has last match to play against Pamin tomorrow.
