Yasin Merchant, Dhruv Sitwala and Devendra Joshi are among the leading cueists who will feature in the Sohrab Gandhi Open Handicap Billiards & Naval Tata Open Handicap Snooker Tournament that will be organised and hosted by the Elphinstone Cricket Club, VT, from May 3.
Among the other top players in the fray are Faizal Khan and R. Girish of Central Railway, Nikhil Ootam of CCI, Amit Saboo and Marzdi Kalyaniwala of Bombay Gymkhana and national women’s billiards and snooker champion Meenal Thakur.
The juniors to watch out for are national junior billiards and snooker champion Arantxa Sanchis, Aditya Agrawal and upcoming Rovin D’Souza.
The billiards competition will include the points format, while snooker will include best-of-three frames upto the pre-quarter-finals, best-of-five frames for the quarter-finals and semi-finals and best-of-7 frames for the final.
Apart from the winners and runners-up, cash prizes will be awarded upto the last 32.
