Khade upsets Bhogle

Underdog Sushant Khade of Vashi upset fancied Mahadeo Bhogle to enter the second round, in the All India Sohrab Gandhi Open Handicap Billiards & Naval Tata Open Handicap Snooker Tournament, organised and hosted by Elphinstone Cricket Club, VT, on Wednesday.

Khade, a semi-finalist at the Goldfilled Open, overcame formidable Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana marker Bhogle 103-57, 114-90 in the snooker competition.

In a match between quality cueists, where Khade enjoyed a handicap of +50 and Bhogle +45, the former surged to substantial leads in both frames as an off-colour Bhogle struggled to find his form.

In another upset, Cyrus Mistry (+55) of Elphinstone Cricket Club beat Sunil Jain (+50) of Garware Club House 103-69, 107-84.

In a close first round match, PJ Hindu Gymkhana marker Sunil Jadhav fashioned a significant 132-104, 100-112, 107-90 win over Neeta Sanghvi of Willingdon Sports Club, Mahalaxmi after snatching the decider on the pink.

Fancied Sahil Khan of Islam Gymkhana eased into the second round following a 104-95, 107-83 win over Prashant Mhatre of Shivaji Park Gymkhana in a match between quality players with handicaps of +50.
