Badami crashes out!

Hasan Badami of Islam Gymkhana crashed out of the Goldfilled Open Handicap Snooker Tournament at the Catholic Gymkhana on Monday.

On another day of upsets, Nihar Chavan (+60) of MIG, Bandra kicked off a rewarding day for the underdogs when he shocked Badami (+25) 109-84, 75-102, 108-59 in a first round encounter.

After winning the opening frame, Chavan surged to a substantial lead in the decider that left Badami little scope of a recovery.

Devansh Jariwala (+55) of P.J. Hindu Gymkhana beat Raj Khandwala (+50) of CCI 110-81, 107-74, while Avdhoot Pachpute (+55) of Mumbai Port Trust endured a late challenge before overcoming Gaurav Prabhu (+45) of MIG 120-87, 82-112, 110-79 in second round upsets.

Trailing 83-93 in the second frame, Pachpute endured three in-offs with only the colours remaining that allowed Prabhu to force the decider. But Pachpute made amends and raced to a substantial lead in the final frame to seal the match.
