More stuns Bhogle

Ashok More stunned Mahadeo Bhogle 2-1 in the battle of the markers, in the first round of the Goldfilled Open Handicap Snooker Tournament at the Catholic Gymkhana on Friday.

Enjoying a handicap of +55, Khar Gymkhana’s More rallied from the loss of the opening frame to beat the favourite from Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana 90-111, 108-81, 104-58 in an exciting encounter between quality cueists.

Bhogle (+45) got off to a good start and looked on course. But More impressed with brilliant snookers and potting in the second and third frames to take the match away.

In other upsets, Sharan Damania (+60) of Khar Gymkhana beat Tejas Shah (+55) of PJ Hindu Gymkhana 2-0, while Amardeep Singh (+60) of Goregaon Sports Club overcame Kirti Parekh (+55) of PJ Hindu Gymkhana 2-1.

Nikhil Ghadge of Khar Gymkhana, Farhad Tengra of Elphinstone Cricket Club, LS Mhatre of Tata Sports Club and marker Prakash Karande of CCI were the fancied cueists who advanced to the second round.
