Rehman upsets Kohli

Abdul Rehman of Islam Gymkhana eased into the pre-quarter-finals of the Goldfilled Open Handicap Snooker Tournament at the Catholic Gymkhana on Sunday.

In a fourth round contest between quality cueists, Rehman (+45) shocked formidable Amandeep Kohli (+40) of Khar Gymkhana 92-52, 81-90, 105-65.

Playing as the underdog, Rehman won the opening frame while Kohli was struggling to find his rhythm. Kohli’s form deserted him till the end, though he remained in the fray by snatching the second frame with a black ball fluke.

Taking advantage of an off-colour Kohli’s poor form, Rehman raced ahead in the third and deciding frame to seal the win by a substantial margin.

Joining Rehman in the pre-quarter-finals was Shekhar Surve of Shivaji Park Gymkhana who beat Vivek Shah of Garware Club House in straight frames.
