The Catholic Gymkhana Open Handicap Snooker Tournament 2010
07 February 2010
Meenal Thakur shocked!
Fancied Meenal Thakur made a premature exit as she crashed in the first round of the Goldfilled Open Handicap Snooker Tournament at the Catholic Gymkhana on Sunday.
Enjoying a handicap of +45, Thakur, of PJ Hindu Gymkhana, went down to Rahul Narang of North Indian Association 1-2..
After dropping the opening frame, Thakur came back strongly in the second to win it by a substantial margin to keep her hopes alive. But Narang (+50) showed he was no pushover as he relied on small but significant breaks to race to a substantial lead in the third and deciding frame, to take the match away.
In another upset, Sachin Lokre of Mumbai Port Trust stunned formidable Kirit Rayani of PJ Hindu Gymkhana 2-0.
