Rego, Harry, scrape past at Poona Club

 

Alexander Rego of Horizons club and Agnelo Harry of Corner pockets  scored tough victories to get off to a winning start at the  4th edition of the 'PCL-Manisha Open and Invitational Snooker Championship 2009' in collaboration with Manisha Construction organized at the Poona Club tables.

 

On the inaugural day of Open Tournament Alexander Rego (Horizon) scored a  close 38-76, 42-16, 55-46 over Ranbir Roy, while  Agnelo Harry brought out all his experience to put out  Salil Deshpande 54-38, 54-49, 58-22 in another close encounter. 22nd seeded Yogesh Sharma of Horizon the only seeded player in action scored a 60-10, 72-24 over Vikram Bagwe in the first league matches.

 

The tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Manoj Malkani President of Poona Club and Mr. Rajan Khivansara, M.D. of 'Manisha Constructions' and Vice President of the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India.

 

The finalists of the Open title will receive Rs.7500 and a wild card into the invitational tournament.
