Sixteen year old, Mundir Sherazi of Karnataka, the 11th standard commerce student of Baldwin's College, Bengalore was crowned the Sub - Juniors billiards prince of the 2008 National billiards championship in the classic billiards hall of the Yeshwant Club here on Monday evening even as he quelled the challenge of Khaim talib of Maharashtra by 369-217 points in the final to the applause of the large gathering present in the wonderful ambience of the air- conditioned hall where 10 billiards table have been set up exquisitely.

Rohan Jambusaria of Maharashtra beat Malkeet Singh of Uttar Pradesh by 64-59 points in the half hour game to decide the third and fourth place. Mundir who is being coached by National coach, Sunder Jairaj was in fact the hero of the day as he potted with aplomb and rare confident rhythm in all his other matches too. Only if he takes a little more time on his shots especially in billiards he has in him the makings of a fine cueist, an investment for the future. evident by his sharp sight and striking abilities of a good cue-delivery.

However, another talented cueist of Gujarat, Dhvaj Haria was the star attraction in the Sub- Juniors snooker event as he overcame Mundir Shirazi in five frames for the snooker title winning the well contested tie by 51-47, 34-52, 24-68, 67-11 and 65-51 points on the decisive black ball to rob Mundir from recording a grand double. Dhvaj trailing by 1-2 frames rallied back brilliantly to snatch the deciding frame, match and title right under the nose of Shirazi.

Himanshu Jain of Andhra beat Shobit Pandey of Uttar Pradesh for the third place match in straight frames by 59-41 and 53-40 points. Mundir Sherazi was again impressive in the Qualifying section of the Juniors Billiards also as he beat Delhi's, Pushpender Singh by 641-490 points in a two hour match which saw Pushpendra faltering at vital stages. Manish Jain of West Bengal was another creditable winner knocking out the hosts player, Arjan Anand by 715-324 points. Aditya Agarwal of Maharashtra beat Ketan Chawla of the hosts by 578-389 points in another match while Raunaq Vajirani of Gujarat beat Varun Madan of Delhi by 570-367 points.
