Subramaniam, Agrawal in Sr. Billiards semis

 

V. Subramaniam and Arun Agrawal fashioned fluent wins to storm into the Senior Billiards semi-finals, in the Matunga Gymkhana Maharashtra State Selection 2007 Billiards & Snooker Tournament, at the Matunga Gymkhana on Tuesday. Subramaniam of hosts Matunga Gymkhana enjoyed brilliant form in home conditions, which earned him three century breaks, to crush Arun's son Aditya Agrawal 807-268 in the two-hour quarter-finals. Subramaniam struck significant breaks of 136, 119 and 129 and added an 81 and 53 to emerge as the toast of the day.

 

Arun Agrawal also fired a century break of 147 en route to a convincing 876-285 win over Rishabh Pandya in another quarter-final. Satbir Narula overcame Rovin D'Souza 321-255 in the semi-finals, to set up a Junior Billiards title clash with Aditya Agrawal.

 

Close encounters marked the opening round of the senior snooker as Sachin Sanchetti of Pune beat Abdul Rehman 3-2 in a thriller, and Rishabh Kumar rallied to overcome Omkar Hingane by a similar margin in another exciting encounter.
