Pankaj Advani
being conferred with PADMA BHUSHAN Award
A day before 69th
Republic Day, the Government of India has announced the list of this
year's Padma awardees.
Indeed it is a great moment for Cue Sports fraternity that India’s
legendary cueist Pankaj Advani is one among the twelve names who
will be conferred with Padma Bhushan Award at Rashtrapati Bhawan,
New Delhi in a
ceremonial function around March/April this year.
Pankaj Advani is 18-time World Champion in different formats of Cue
Sports (Billiards/Snooker and 6Reds). His recent achievement of
winning Billiards and Snooker World Titles back-to-back
last year remained
one of the rarest combination. Only a cueist can understand how
difficult it is to switch from one format to another instantly and
perform at highest level.
His constant performances have inspired many youngsters to pick-up
the cue and are performing in competitive events.
With this announcement, he becomes the second Indian cueist, after
Michael Ferreira (1983), to receive Padma Bhushan Award.
On the eve of
69th Republic Day it’s a
wonderful gift from
Government of India to Pankaj and
the
Cue Sports fraternity.
