Akshay stops Vinayak's hat trick at UP State Ranking
Lucknow based
cueist Akshay Kumar won the UP State Open 3rd Ranking Snooker
Championship by defeating Vinayak Agarwal 5-2 in the final played at
The Green Baize today. The tournament which was organized by Lucknow
Cue Sports Association under the auspicious of Uttar Pradesh
Billiard & Snooker Association was the culminating event of a three
tournament series where players accumulated points as per their
position in each of the championships. Even though Akshay won the
3rd leg but Vinayak, by virtue of winning the first 2 championships
had already secured enough points to become the new State Number One
Snooker player and moved Akshay down a notch UP Number 2.
The finals which was a best of nine frame match, started as a see
saw battle with both the layers wining one frame after the other
till the 10 minute break where the score was 2-2. But after the
break the story was totally different. Akshay came back with fire in
his belly while Vinayak returned to the table with frustration which
was not only visible in his game but was also written all over his
face. Even though he had chance in all the next three frames but
with his frame of mind there was no way he could capitalizes on the
chances. Akshay won the next three with ease and the championship.
Earlier in the day the semi finals were played and both Akshay and
Vinayak had easy victories against Ashar Abrar and Anubhav Shukla
respectively but it were the breaks being hit that was the story.
Vinayk hit 3 breaks of 51, 50 and 41 in the four frames he won
against Anubhav while Akshay hit 40 and 47 against Ashar.
Thank you note and the prizes were given away by Secretary U.P.B.S.A,
Tanuj Kohli.
