Advani settles
for silver, Kothari bagged bronze
India's ace cueist
Pankaj Advani who was defending his 150-Up Billiards title finally
settled for Silver after losing 4-6 to Peter Gilchrist of Singapore
in the final of 2015 World Billiards (150-Up) Championship being
played here at Adelaide, South Australia.
Advani who stayed unbeaten throughout, tried hard in the final but
Gilchrist stayed better on him and Advani assured only silver.
At a stage in final, Advani was down 1-3 and then 2-5. From there,
he made a fantastic recovery and pulled two games having breaks of
151 and 143 to come almost at par (4-5) but did not get a single
chance in 10th game as Gilchrist cleared up with an unfinished break
of 150 points leaving Advani with no other option rather to settle
for silver.
Later Advani tweeted: "Tried hard but couldn't
win the gold at the IBSF World Billiards Championship. Lost to Peter
Gilchrist, better player on the day."
Another Indian player, Sourav Kothari, who lost to Gilchrist in
semis, shared the joint bronze alongwith another semi finalist from
England, Nalin Patel.
The time format will start from tomorrow and Advani here too
defending his title and hope he successfully defend the same.
