On Saturday, 31st
August on the occasion of 100 years celebration of Delhi Gymkhana
Club, the club hosted DGC centenary 6 Red Snooker Doubles Tournament
where special invitees from Cue Sports fraternity, Geet Sethi, Yasin
Merchant, Alok Kumar, Manan Chandra and Lucky Vatnani paired with
Delhi Gymkhana Club members Dr. Rajiv Kohli, Rakesh Mahendroo,
Bharat Vaish, Sandeep Verma and Neerkeet Jarg.
The tournament won by team Alok Kumar -
Bharat Vaish defeating team Manan Chandra - Sandeep Verma 3-1 in
best of five frames final.
Alok was in great
form throughout and in the final he dominated in first two frames
starting with long pots to clear the table and gained 2-Nil lead
over team Manan. In the next frame Manan got chance to exhibit
skills and recovered 1-2 by winning the frame. Once again he got a
chance to counter Alok's lead of 24 points in the next frame but
failed to pot the pink to level the match. However, Alok got the
dicey pink but succeeded in potting that followed by black to seal
the frame and match.
Before that in the
semi finals, team Alok defeated team Yasin 3-1 whereas team Manan
had to fought hard to outplay team Vatnani.
