Success breeds
success. The architect of the 2009 Indian National billiards &
snooker championship held at the Hotel Clarks Shiraz in Agra from
14th September to 4th October held last year, Mr. Kush Bhargava the
President of the UP Billiards & snooker Association has been
rewarded with the coveted yet onerous post of Vice President of the
Billiards & Snooker Federation of India in the just concluded Annual
General meeting of the BSFI at the KSBA complex in Bangalore today
afternoon. He was one of the four Vice Presidents to be elected
unanimously in the meeting which retained the existing two Vice
Presidents in Mr. Bholu Mehta of Madhya Pradesh and Mr. Rajan
Khinvasara of Maharashtra. Alongwith these a young and dynamic K.
Ranjan of Tamil Nadu was also elected as the fourth Vice Presidents.
The sitting President, Capt. PVK Mohan of Andhra Pradesh was re
elected alongwith the existing Treasurer MSR Aradhya of Karnataka.
With the Father
figure of the "green baize", Shri Charanjit Kapur of West Bengal
retiring from active service of the game after a long stint he was
replaced with the sitting Vice President, Mr. S. Balasubramaniam of
Karnataka as the new Honorary Secretary.
For Mr. Kush
Bhargava it is the culmination of his services to Cue sports in the
state of Uttar Pradesh over a period of 14 years after he was first
elected as one of the Vice Presidents of the State body in 1996 Mr.
Bhargava is also an active leader of the congress party in Lucknow
having held many a post in the state including the one of
Media Chairman of the party in Uttar Pradesh. He also has been the
Chief of the Civil Defence of Lucknow.
Talking to the
local press here Mr. Bhargava promised to work in close
coordination with the new set of office bearers of the BSFI in
developing the game of cue sports in the country and getting it its
rightful place in Indian sports in general as well as for ensuring
the upliftment of the game in his home state of Uttar Pradesh.
