The Pakistan
Snooker team started preparing in Karachi Club for the 'World
Snooker Championship 2009' to be held in India (Hyderabad) from
November 14 to 29. Pakistan team for this mega event comprise of two
cueists, National Champion Mohammad Asif and former
National Champion Mohammad Sajjad.
Pakistan
Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA) has been submit a Visa
request to Indian Embassy and waiting for approval.
"We submit there request and we hopeful got
the Indian Visa after One Week" PSBA President, Mr. Alamgir
Sheikh exclusively told to
CUESPORTSINDIA.com.
"Pakistan have
No-Objection Certificate from the sports
ministry to send its players to India to feature in the upcoming
World Snooker Championship in Hyderabad" he added.
Pakistan team
train on daily Basis and have very tough schedule for the
preparation world mega event.
Pakistan has
only one World Championship Title in men category, which was won by
Mohammad Yousuf in Johanesburg in the year 1994 beating Johannes R.
Johannesson of Iceland. He also won the World Snooker title
for Masters category in the year 2006 where he beat Australian
Cueist Glen Wilkinson. He also won the Asian Snooker title in 1998.
Pakistan
Another Top Player Saleh Mohammad was runner up in 2003 World
Snooker Championship in China where he lost to 'Wonder Boy' Pankaj
Advani of India.
Pakistan will
be sending India four member team comprising two players i.e.
Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sajjad alongwith Manager Munawer Sheikh and
International Referee Shabir Daruwala.
PBSA President
Mr. Alamgir Sheikh also visiting India alongwith IBSF Vice President
Mr. Ali Asghar Valika for attending IBSF General Council Meeting on
23 / 24 November.
