Alok wins National Masters Snooker championship

India’s most versatile cueists, Alok Kumar has won the National Masters Snooker Championship today by defeating his state-mate Dharminder Singh Lilly 3-0 in the final.

The Billiards and Snooker Federation of India has now adapted a new structure for the upcoming National Billiards and Snooker Championships for the seniors category of Men.

Ketan Chawla wins the grand double

MP State’s top ranked cueist from Indore, Ketan Chawla won the grand double title of Madhya Pradesh State Ranking. Today he won the Snooker title after his Billiards title that he won five days ago. This is his first ever State title in Snooker.

India's National 6Reds Snooker Rank 4 cueist, Lucknow based Akshay Kumar won the 1st Ranking tournament of Uttar Pradesh State Championship.

Green Warrior made a strong comeback after losing badly yesterday 1-6 and won both of their matches today convincingly. Today morning they defeated Snookin Shooters 5-2 and then ousted Black Panthers having similar score 5-2..

City Knights, led by Brijesh Damani, posted an astonishing victory of 6-1 over Green Warriors and now staying in the top position of the points tally recorded so far. The Bengal Premier League is being played in the Silver Spring Club, organized by West Bengal Billiards Association.

The third edition of Bengal Premier League began today with eight teams in the contest. The league is being organized by West Bengal Billiards Association in association with Silver Spring Club, Kolkata. During the opening ceremony, the Director of Space Groups, Mr. Piyush Bhagat announced the league open for next six days with the final on 18th July 2018.


Top cueists from the nation are taking part in this league, which includes Former Asian champion Aditya Mehta, who has taken a break from professional circuit, is leading the team Black Panthers. Other top cueists participating are former Asian & Billiards Champion Alok Kumar, Current World 6Reds No.2 Kamal Chawla, National Champion Sumit Talwar, Current World Team Cup champion Manan Chandra and the former World team snooker bronze medalist Brijesh Damani. This year two top women cueists of the country, Vidya Pillai (former World No.2) and current Asian Women Snooker champion Amee Kamani are also participating in the league.

Today two matches were played and won by Cue Magicians and Snookin Shooters. Cue Magicians defeated City Knights 4-3, and the Snookin Snooters won against Black Panthers. Cue Magicians had won their first four frames to confirm their victory but after that gave away three frames to settle on 4-3 score.

Snookin Shooters also won their match by same score-line 4-3 against Black Panthers. The match was quite interesting where Aditya Mehta won his both initial frames but his team couldn’t perform well and they lost the match 4-3. Towards the end, Aditya also lost the doubles frame with his partner Siddharth Parikh.

Brijesh Damani wins the CCI Snooker Open 2018

IOCL’s Kolkata based cueist, Brijesh Damani wins the CCI Snooker Open 2018 championship here at Cricket Club of India, Mumbai. In the final he defeated his state-mate ONGCian Sourav Kothari in a one-sided affair 7-1.

The whole match turned towards Damani’s side from the first frame itself where despite trailing by 40 odd points, he succeeded to seal the frame in his favour 57-48. In next two frames, Damani shown his authority and ceased Kothari to single digit score with a remarkable 53 points break in second frame.

Fourth frame was tight but Damani managed to clinch that too on black ball game (57-51) and so on in fifth with one point (55-54). Though Kothari managed to take away one frame to cut the deficit but couldn’t save the vastly done damage of 5 initial frames. However, Damani secured next two frames to confirm his victory over Kothari.

Mr. Sanju Kothari, the vice president of Cricket Club of India, alongwith his committee members handed over the winner’s trophy to Brijesh Damani.

Pankaj, Aditya to take part in CCI Snooker Open 2018

The biggest guns in Indian snooker, Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta, have confirmed their participation in the Rs.12.25 Lakh total prize-money CCI Snooker Open Championship 2018, scheduled to start at the CCI’s Wilson Jones Billiards Room, from February 1, 2018 with the finals on 18th Feb. The tournament termed as ‘The Clash of Titans’.

The top eight ranked Indians, including newly crowned National champion Sumit Talwar of Chandigarh and runner-up Malkeet Singh of Railways, and the eight other cueists, who will receive wild card entry, will be the star attractions and the main challengers for the winners’ top prize of Rupees Two Lakh.

The other major names include two-time Asian Snooker champion Yasin Merchant, former Asian Snooker and Billiards champion, Alok Kumar and Sonic Multani, a former National Champion who has also played on the pro circuit for a couple of years before taking time out from the sport.

The Mumbai-based cueist Aditya Mehta, who is currently playing on the professional circuit, will return to the city, specially to take part in this event. Advani, recent recipient of the Padma Bhushan award and a multiple champion in snooker and billiards at the Nationals, World and Asian championships, will be a major contender to emerge as champion.

The runner-up will be richer by Rs.1.30 Lakh, the losing semi-finalists will receive Rs.75000 each, and the losing quarter-finalists will get Rs.40000 each. Players reaching the round of 16 and round of 32 would also receive cash prizes of Rs.25000 and Rs.12500 each respectively.

To bring out the best from the players and make sure some absorbing contests, the organising committee have decided to offer a special cash award of Rs 1.47 lakh for the maximum break of 147 compiled during the tournament. Meanwhile, a cash award of Rs.25000 is at stake for the highest break, the qualification is a break of 130 and above.

With the cream of Indian players, including a galaxy of stars, cue sports aficionados can look forward to some fascinating and exciting competition throughout the entire duration of the tournament.

The last 5 days of the event i.e. 14th - 18th Feb will have LIVE STREAMING of the matches on Cue Sports India's Facebook and Youtube channels.

India’s star cueist, Pankaj Advani (representing ONGC) started his national snooker campaign in great style. In the opening frame of his first match today, he hit massive 125 break against Tushar Shreshtha of Bihar.
