BRIJESH DAMANI MISSED THE
MEDAL NARROWLY
Reigning
national 6Reds champion Kamal Chawla confirms the first medal for India in
the inaugural edition of Asian Billiards Sports 2016 initiated by Asian
Confederation of Billiards Sports. The first edition started today at Al-Fujairah,
UAE.
Chawla steps in the semi-final stage by winning first three matches of
6Red Snooker discipline in a
row. Today he defeated fancied player from UAE, Mohammed Al Joaker 5-2
scoring three worthy breaks of 39, 40 and 37.
In next match he defeated Habib Subah of Bahrain 5-3. Chawla was down 2
frames but he won next four frames in a row to take full control of the
game. Though Habib won one more frame but that was not enough to stop
Chawla as he won another frame to seal the match 5-3.
Later in quarter finals, Chawla defeated Ahmed Saif of Qatar 5-3 to enter
in the medals round. Here too he completed his journey similar to previous
match. From down two frames to win four and later closed the match
proceedings 5-3.
In semi-finals he will play against Au Chi Wai of Hong Kong to change the
colour of the medal.
However, some
disappointment as another Indian player Brijesh Damani narrowly missed the
medal. He lost the deciding frame against Muhammad Bilal of Pakistan in
quarter finals.
Brijesh was in a very good position by leading 4 frames to 2 but the
seventh frame slipped from his hands on black ball that remained turning
point of the match. After that Bilal recovered well to conquer next two
frames and shown exit to Damani.
In 9Ball Pool
Section, Shahbaaz
Adil Khan is continuing on his winning streak in Loser-Bracket. After
losing first match against Abdullah Alshammari of Saudi Arabia 2-9, he
defeated Ahmad Essa of Palestine 9-1 and then won the deciding rack 9-8
against A. Alammar of Saudi Arabia to stay alive in the competition.
Although the reigning national champion Himanshu Jain is out of the
